Monticello News (Monticello, FL) – On a hot and humid afternoon the owners of the North Florida Football League gather at the offices of the Seersuckers and Flashes to conduct the 2011 Draft. Eight of the ten teams were represented. The owners of the Tallahassee Terrors and Slippery Rock Tortfeasors were unable to appear due to their attendance at a noodling competition in Chattahoochee, Florida.
Prior to the commencement of the draft Joe “Caveman” Zollner made an impassioned plea to strip both the Mootown Marauders and Hillard Flashes of their franchises. “They’re run by girls! What do they know about football? Nothing! It’s time we take back our league and stop discriminating against Polish people!” His request was politely declined and he was seated next to Becky “I Will Cut You” Bonfanti for the entirety of the draft.
The first overall pick was made by the Marauders who selected Adrian Foster. “Our team is confident his hamstring will last the season,” said Marauders’ owner Kirsten Matthis. Tom “Soar Like A” Golden Eagle was also delighted in his pick of Peyton Manning. “Nothing is going to stop Manning from having a monster year, not even a neck fusion,” said Criss as he planned his run at the NFFL Cup.
With the draft in the books owners are now free to add and drop players as they see fit. Week 1 of the NFFL season kicks off on Thursday, September 8, 2011.
